UC-Mexus Workshops

2018

In 2018, we held a three-day workshop in Mexico City, Mexico from November 13-15. We worked with the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Comisión Nacional para el Conocimiento y Uso de la Biodiversidad (CONABIO), and The Institute for Bird Populations (IBP) – along with field station operators and scientists from across Mexico. The aim of this workshop was to:

1. Established long-term partnerships between the Bird Genoscape Project, UNAM and our two collaborators, CONABIO and the IBP, to further bird conservation efforts between the U.S. and Mexico.

2. Train UNAM and UCLA students on the principles and techniques of bird banding, genetics, and population dynamics.
